A strange day at work!

Being a proofreader of financial statements in a popular company I never expected to experience a day when I wont have any work to do at all. I never thought I would be able to draft a blogpost from office on a Thursday afternoon. I guess things come to you when you least expect them. Looking around I get a feeling that may be I’m not the only one. May be, most of the people are free today but are pretending to be busy so that no work is assigned to them. However, it could be only my feeling… you can never say.

Whatever it is, its very strange and unusual. Since the day I joined I have not seen a day like this. I’m glad there is such a day. At least it gives me something to write about. So my new place of work is looking very different today. I heard a lot of people talking instead of just some typing chatter. I was so excited that I didn’t want to tell anyone that I’m having a free day. I thought I’ll jinx it if I talk about it. I didn’t even tell mom. But guess what? I was so excited that I told one of my friends and ended up with a job to do almost immediately.  So my almost perfect day ended with that surprise!
Before I could call it an unusual day… the usual things came up to kill all the happiness I had. So I guess it was just another Thursday

Say no to infantilization of the differently abled

 "Why does she need to wear a saree?" "Why don't you have Parikshit check your leave balance before you apply?" "Why don't you have your mum oversee that transaction while you make it?" "Let me ask your mum if I should feed you two chapatis or one." I'm used to these kinds of questions and statements being thrown at me all the time. I knew something was off, but it was not until last year that I realized it is called infantilization. What's infantilization? For those who are reading this word for the first time, infantilization is a form of ableism where differently-abled adults are treated as children. We are treated as something less than who we are. In doing this, the able people often make decisions for their disabled counterparts believing that they are incapable of deciding what's best for them. To Everyone I Know

I never realized until now that I'm a little in love with everyone I know. A post I shared on Facebook sometime ago reminded me of this love. As I read the post, I realized that there's something we love about everyone we know. With too many things to do, we often forget it, but that doesn't mean that the love doesn't exist. The popular idea of love that we have created, prevents us from seeing and appreciating the various other ways in which it exits. It could be in the most insignificant things that people do or say casually. It could be in just a smile or holding the door open. I see love in so many things people do for me, but sharing food is my favorite way of sharing love. Chocolate says I love you, like nothing else :) Every person that I have ever met has taught me to love a little more. Sometimes, I take a little while to understand, but thankfully I do. So, I'd like to pause for a moment and acknowledge the unconditional love from everyone....
